  Giant Papillary Conjunctivitis

Giant papillary conjunctivitis is a severe form of contact allergic conjunctivitis. It is caused by the protein buildup in the contact lens. The mucous membrane of the upper eyelid is the most affected. If not treated early, it will become impossible to wear the lens.

Sleeping with contact lenses can lead to giant papillary conjunctivitis. People using disposable lenses are found to have less incidence of this allergy.
