Eye Drops
Regular use of eye drops are an ideal treatment for eye allergies. It washes the allergens away, moistens the eye and reduces the symptoms. Eye drops which contain topical decongestants reduce the redness in the eye by constricting the blood vessels.
Sodium chromoglycate, ketotifen, lodoxamide, nedocromil sodium, pemirolast and olopatidine are some of the anti-allergy eye drops. Anti-histamine eye drops are also prescribed for eye allergies.
Although there are several over-the-counter eye drops, it is wise to use them after consulting an ophthalmologist. Most eye drops have a burning and stinging effect when applied but this does not last long.
